Support East End Kids (SEEK)

SEEK

A Hephzibah Christian Centre/East London Christian Choir School Initiative

The Sponsor East End Kids a.k.a. the SEEK initiative is aimed specifically at the savvy business community; business men and women who know how to make high yielding short term and long term investments.  Indeed, SEEK sponsors are in fact investors in community that can expect high returns in both the immediate and distant future.

The Aim of SEEK:

Building Faith in the Community

The aim of the SEEK initiative is to take advantage of the government’s Faith in the System commitment to the right of parents to send their children to a school that reflects their faith.

The government have stated that they:

“recognise that with changes in society, it is only fair that pupils of all faiths and none have the opportunity to be educated in accordance with the wishes of their parents.”

Faith in the System (September 2007)

Building on Success

By building on the current success of the East London Christian Choir School the SEEK initiative aims to provide four hundred young people in London’s East End with the benefit of an education based on an Evangelical Christian curriculum – ten times as many students as we currently have.

Two Options

Under Faith in the System there are two ways in which the East London Christian Choir School can be developed from a fee paying independent school to a school available to all via the state education system:

1. A Christian City Academy

Under the City Academy scheme the East London Christian Choir School can register as an interested party.  The government would then look for a failing state school that could be taken over and transformed into a city academy under the auspices of the East London Christian Choir School.  This something akin to a ‘reverse takeover’ in the business sector.

2. A Christian Voluntary Aided School

Under the Voluntary Aided School scheme the East London Christian Choir School could convert to a voluntary aided faith school within the state education sector.

The Fundraising Objective of SEEK:

A  £2,000,000 (Two Million Pound)  Ring Fenced Fund

Both the options of a City Academy or a Voluntary Aided (Faith) School require a financial input of £2,000,000 (two million pounds), which the government would match with a further £18,000,000 (eighteen million pounds).

The objective of the SEEK initiative is to raise from sponsors  £2,000,000 (two million pounds), the equivalent of one year’s school fees for each of the 400 young people to be catered for in the new larger school, and ring fence it for the purpose of either establishing a Christian City Academy or a Christian Voluntary Aided School.

One year’s school fees amounts to just £5,000 (five thousand pounds).  If each of the four hundred student places is sponsored for the equivalent of just one year, then the necessary £2,000,000 (two million pounds) will have been raised.   Sponsoring an East End Kid would in fact sponsor an East End generation.

How to Give:

Sponsor an East End Kid

Whilst donations of any size will be gratefully accepted the smallest unit of Corporate Sponsorship we are seeking is the £5,000 (five thousand pound) SEEK Gift (Bronze Gift), which represents the equivalent of one pupil’s annual school fees.

Sponsor a Learning Centre

The second level of corporate giving is the Learning Centre Gift (Silver Gift).  The East London Christian Choir School uses an individualised learning method of teaching, which involves Learning Centres.  A Learning Centre sponsor will give a gift of £200,000 (the equivalent of 40 pupils’ school fees) and will have a Learning Centre affiliated to their firm as a mark of appreciation and recognition.  It would be hoped that the sponsoring firm would take a keen ongoing interest in the progress of the Learning Centre.

Sponsor a House (Standard)

The third level of corporate giving is the House Builder’s Gift (Gold Gift).  The school is currently divided into 5 Houses with standards reflective of biblical principles. The Preschool House (Lambs), The ABCs House (Pilgrims), The Junior Learning Centre House (Eagles), The Senior Learning Centre House (Lions) and the Higher Learning Department House (Ambassadors). These houses (standards) bear the learning and development that takes place in the kingdom for maturing our students into responsible citizens.

A House Builder sponsor will give a gift of £500,000 (the equivalent of 100 pupils’ school fees) and will have a House affiliated to their firm as a mark of appreciation and recognition.  It would be hoped that the sponsoring firm would take a keen ongoing interest in the progress of the House (standard).

The house builder sponsor might also include a form of patronage because of the level of support? What do you think?
