HCC was established in the early 1990s as a result of a vision by the Senior Pastor, Pastor Maxine Hargreaves. One strategy of that vision was to establish a school that would excel in academics and at the same time provide children with the biblical training necessary to model the character of Jesus Christ. East London Christian Choir School (ELCCS) was founded and opened in August 2003 for this primary reason. Our desire is not only towards academic excellence, but also to facilitate growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ, to serve him, the community and our generation.
ELCCS Philosopy
ELCCS believes that man is made up of “body, soul and spirit” and therefore children should be catered for holistically. ELCCS seeks to accomplish this by including physical exercise and games; social interaction through play and leisure activities, and daily devotional time within its educational framework. The values we aim to promote as a school.
Our primary purpose at ELCCS is to provide a Christ-centred education with high academic standards and instruction in music.
We are committed to creating a stimulating Christian environment where children are encouraged to depend on God, develop the character traits of Christ displayed through His life and to learn to serve God, their community and their generation.
We believe that the highest expectations of education can be realised when there is a true partnership between the home and school. We aim to assist parents in the education and training of their children according to God’s precepts and principles.
We desire that each student achieve their full potential according to the gifts and talents God has given them, and in the process develop faithfulness, tolerance, self-confidence and a positive self-image. |
